We are needing several Cub Scouts to show up and volunteer during the 11AM service at Weddington Methodist Church November 10.

Duties listed below….

*Distribute the Thank You cards we created in mid-October to the Veterans in the
congregation.

A few Cub Scouts to carry in and out the flags for that 11AM service. Ushers/Greeters for the 11AM service How it works……very simple. I would like all Scouts in attendance and family, to sit up front together.

1: We will all meet in Helms Hall that Sunday (the fellowship hall connected to the main church) at 10:30AM. We will have several scouts chosen to stand outside the sanctuary to greet people as they enter, hold the door, and possibly usher some people in to their seats.

2: Depending on how many flags Rob wants us to carry in, we will select a few Scouts to carry the flags in, up to the front of the sanctuary when prompted. Scouts will stand there with the flags for the duration of the Armed Forces Medley. Then they carry the flags out and return to their seat when the medley is over.

3: All other Scouts that are NOT carrying a flag, will “run” the Thank You cards to Veterans as they stand, during the Armed Forces Medley. Rob plays the Armed Forces Medley, and during each branch’s song, he asks the Veterans from that branch to stand to be recognized. This is when Scouts will hustle a Thank You card to the standing Veterans, then hustle back to the front of the sanctuary to grab another Thank You card. Cards will be in a basket at front of Sanctuary, and distributed by Becky.

Veterans Day is a very important day to me, as I am sure it is for everyone of us. When these Veterans stand during their fight song/medley, it means so much to them, and having a young and proud Cub Scout run them a Thank You card puts a big smile on their face. Hope to see you there.
